This is a never-ending quest for WiFi nirvana. With Linksys MR9600, the quest is almost at an end. Before I explain how, I will tell the story of the journey from the beginning.
The above image was posted in 2013. Based on a single Asus RT-N56U WiFi router.
- Green ellipses is my assumption of the signal path. It definitely is weaker by the master bedroom and the bedrooms.
- Red arrow is the direction of the sexy front of my Asus RT-N56U router.
- Red triangle is where the ONT termination point
In 2018, I upgraded to Linksys WHW0102-AH Velop Dual-Band AC2600 Intelligent Mesh WiFi System, White (2 Piece). The heart denote the location of each node. I got three nodes in total. Ignore the green ellipses.
Early 2020, there was another upgrade. This time, I laid a cable(seen in blue colour) from the living room to the corner of the corridor leading to the rooms. The nodes in the study, main bedroom and the corridor is on Linksys WHW0102-AH Velop Dual-Band AC2600 Intelligent Mesh WiFi System, White (2 Piece). The main router in living room is Linksys MR9000X-AH AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router, Black.
At this point, coverage throughout the house is 100%. The only thing left to do – is hope for the faster throughput with better equipment.
In late 2020, I upgraded the main router from Linksys MR9000X-AH AC3000 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi Router, Black to Linksys MR9600-AH AX6000 Dual Band Mesh WiFi 6 Router(a). The MR9000 is moved to the corridor(b) serving the Study(c) and Main Bedroom(d).
The Linksys MR9600-AH AX6000 Dual Band Mesh WiFi 6 Router is a huge upgrade in terms of speed as it now has better management of WiFi channels from 1 to 6Ghz due to the implementation as a WiFi 6 router.

The main downside I experienced while using this, is when I activate WPA2/WPA3 authentication. Once I do that, I am unable to connect to Spotify and certain Google sites. Maybe Linksys will need to look into this issue. There are no such problems, once I downgraded the authentication to WPA2 only.
The journey toward full coverage with full speed is never-ending. I may put a hardware firewall – to assist to cover me, since I am not using WPA3.
Perhaps, in the future, I will upgrade to a Linksys WiFi 6 router with triband to replace all the older nodes in my Study and Main Bedroom
